For decades, it has been debated whether  strength training or cardio exercises are good for individuals.  The truth is that you need both cardio exercises and strength training.  It takes more than just a single branch of exercise for it to work well on your body.  Doing strength training and cardio exercises gives benefits to your body and both support each other giving enhancement to your overall performance.  The recommendation for adults is 30 minutes of aerobic exercises daily and strength training at least twice a week. If one goes on weight training the muscles are built and it strengthens the connective tissues of the body.  Weight training can also help with every day chores and aging bodies, and improves posture, balance, and stability.  With strength training there will be an improvement in the shape of your body and metabolizes fat faster.  After your workout, you body still burns calories since you metabolism remains higher for a longer period of time when you have done strength training.  You will burn more calories while you are resting by adding some muscles to your frame since your muscles expends more energy to maintain than fat does.


With cardio training, you body's ability to process and use a higher content of oxygen is improved.  It also increases your lung's capacity, and improves your overall fitness level to help you live longer and have a healthier heart.  Even the top body builders have seen the importance of doing cardiovascular in their training workouts because it increases blood flow to the muscles and speeds up muscle breakdown healing process and recovery through workouts.  Your heart rate is increased in the short term with cardio training and its benefits include lower blood pressures and decreased resting heart rate, which results in less effort for the heart and any future diseases.


There are many physical and mental benefits to a properly designed and well rounded workout routine.  With the increased blood flow to the brain as a result of exercise individuals are helped to function at higher levels, and it also produces endorphins which help aid tension, stress, and anxiety.  You can decrease the risk of illnesses like diabetes, heart diseases, high blood pressure and certain types of cancer if you perform healthy related activities.  If you regularly exercise you can maintain your muscle mass and strengthen your bone density.  As we grow older we notice that our muscles and our bones decline.  If you want to have a better and healthier way of life, then regular exercising will make our bodies have that.
